Pictured above are Fred Solomon, CEO of Platinum Advanced Technologies, Mike Nichols, Vice President for Research & Development of Platinum Advanced Technologies, and Richard Gilley who designed and financed the building of the "Richard Gilley Home".

Mike Nichols, the developer of the steel reinforced panels used in the Richard Gilley Home personally supervised the construction of the home itself and the panels used in its construction. It was Mike Nichols, an experienced commercial contractor, inventor and  owner of one of the largest pipe fabrication facilities in the US with locations in Texas City, and Harlingen, Texas who took it upon himself a few years ago to find a better way to manufacture structural insulated panels for use in residential and commercial construction.

In 2005 Mike's company than merged with Platinum Advanced Technologies when Fred Solomon, an investor in Mike's pipe fabrication company recognized the potential of the energy saving and hurricane resistant properties of these homes. It was Fred's idea to bring in some more engineers, make recommendations and improvements on Mike's original design specifications and purchase new equipment in order to expand the facilities in Harlingen to manufacture panels for the residential home building industry nationwide.

Structural Insulated Panels have been around since the 1930s when they were first developed by the US Forest Service. A variety of manufacturer/fabricator suppliers exist within the SIP industry. Some manufacturers specialize in Structural Insulated Panels and only manufacture SIPs. For others, SIPs are one of many in a group of products they manufacture. The same diversity holds true for fabricators. Panels can be pre-cut by an independent service, separate from a manufacturer or by the SIP manufacturer itself. This final group of manufacturer/fabricators offers the most complete service - custom-made panels to fabrication to ready-to-install delivery and assistance.

We require that the panels we use meet the specifications of Energywise Homebuilders Co.  and are custom manufactured  according to building requirements and structural needs of each building design.
